The Above & Beyond recommended winners for Fall 2018 recognition are:

Professional – Rebecca Huerta serves as a math teacher for our Junior High School.  As a math teacher, she has done exceptional work with our junior high math classes and redesigned the scope and sequence of both 6th and 7th-grade honors mathematics.  The courses have been aligned to match up with the TEKS for 6-8 grade mathematics. She works tirelessly to ensure that students are prepared for Algebra in the 8th grade.  Her students continue to demonstrate success and have shown excellent progress in mathematics.  Mrs. Huerta has also taken on the responsibility of the campus coordinator for AVID.  Additionally, she supports multiple robotics courses and clubs by helping provide supervision at robotics competitions and events. She also supports students as an academic coach for UIL events. We are proud to recognize Rebecca Huerta as one of our Fall 2018 Above & Beyond award winners.

Professional – Kristy Archibald serves as a Kindergarten teacher for our Elementary School.  Mrs. Archibald is a wonderful teacher who does an amazing job creating a great learning environment for her students.  When you go into Mrs. Archibald’s classroom, you really don’t know what you are going to find.  You may find a pilgrim ready for a Thanksgiving feast or human-sized peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  You can feel the joy when you walk into her classroom.  She encourages her students to explore and experiment and uses mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow.  Mrs. Archibald is also incredibly kind and giving; she teaches that to her students by example.  She volunteers her time for after-school events including Spirit Nights, PTSO events, and after-school performances. We are proud to recognize Kristy Archibald as one of our Fall 2018 Above & Beyond award winners.

Auxiliary – Tommy Estrada serves our district as the lead custodian for our high school campus. Tommy provides exceptional support ensuring classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and other district spaces are carefully cleaned and sanitized after every school day. In addition, to his everyday responsibilities, Tommy goes above-and-beyond in helping coordinate custodial support for afterschool events such as the annual fall festival, school dances, after-school meetings, and numerous other school events.  Tommy can always be counted on to help when needed with a smile and great attitude.  We are proud to recognize Tommy Estrada as one of our Fall 2018 Above & Beyond award winners.

Para-Professional – Elizabeth Salaz serves as a special education instructional aide for our high school.  As a special education aide, she goes above-and-beyond in ensuring that students in her class receive the specialized modifications and accommodations they need to be successful. Mrs. Salaz consistently checks on her students during their academic support class to make sure they understand what work needs to be completed or if any assistance is needed.  She does a great job keeping them focused on their class assignments and ensures they have the materials they need to complete their classroom projects. We are proud to recognize Elizabeth Salaz as one of Fall 2018 Above & Beyond award winners.
