The Stacey Eagle Band traveled to Pleasanton on March 3rd to participate in the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading contest. Following their performance, they earned a I - (superior rating) in both their concert and sight-reading programs. The students worked incredibly hard, and they are excited to showcase their talent at the next concert on May 14th. Congratulations to our outstanding musicians!

Lackland ISD continues to strive toward improving communication.
ParentSquare is a communication platform. Through the platform, you’ll be able to:
*Receive all district, school, and classroom communication via email, text, or app
*View the school and classroom calendar and RSVP for events
*Easily sign up to volunteer and/or bring items
*Securely receive important documents like report cards and other student documents
For the best ParentSquare experience, we recommend that you download and install the app. The name is ParentSquare, and it can easily be found in your device’s app store. If you don’t have a device, no need to worry: the platform is capable of both text and email, and you can log on via the web as well. ParentSquare receives its contact information from the Ascender Parent Portal. Please take a moment to make sure that you have the latest contact information on file there.
Parent Square Notifications
Under General Announcements, you can select how often you want to receive notifications for posts. Select Off, Instant or Digest notifications.
Off:no notifications about posts will be sent to you. Emergency Alerts and Notices will still be sent. School Alerts will still be sent if turned on.
Instant:you'll receive an email and/or text and/or an app notification every time a notice or message is sent.
Digest:you'll receive an email and/or text and/or an app notification once a day in the evening with all posts from that day.
The default setting is typically Digest, so that you receive all notices and post messages in one convenient notification once a day. All emergency notifications still come through instantly, and a school can override settings as needed for an urgent message.

The high school girls golf team competed in the Randolph Invitational golf tournament on Monday March 16th. The girls had to not only go against the challenging course but the conditions that day were not ideal with the wind it felt like 25 degrees on the course. Stacey’s Academic Movement Lab is up and running! Both teachers and students are enjoying the opportunity to stay physically active while remaining engaged in their lessons.
High school ELA instructor Ms. Valle shares, “I enjoy taking my class to the movement lab because it gives students a chance to step outside of our usual environment and collaborate with one another in a fresh, engaging, and fun setting.”
Ms. Favila’s Medical Terminology, Principles of Health Science, and Pharmacology classes recently used the AML, and she found that it “keeps students engaged, motivated, and on task.”
Senior Audrey Upton enjoys attending classes in the AML, noting that it “has given me a space to really focus and stay locked in on my schoolwork, while also providing a place where I can regulate myself and take a moment to cool down, especially on more stressful days.”
Middle school math instructor Ms. K. Parham has also observed a positive change in her students: “Since incorporating it into our routine, I’ve noticed a clear difference. My students are calmer, more focused, and better prepared to engage with their work. What’s most impactful is that the students themselves recognize the benefit.”
Middle school student Anderson Fawcett feels the same. When asked his opinion about the AML, he was quick to respond that “it keeps my attention away from other people and on my work,” while fellow classmate Josiah Jackson shared that “it keeps me calm and helps me do my work quicker.” Student Kayden Calderon added that it “keeps me more relaxed.”
The Academic Movement Lab is open to all Stacey teachers and can accommodate up to 26 students. It is stocked with a variety of classroom supplies and includes access to technology, making it as user-friendly as possible. Please reach out to Ms. Pirog if you would like additional information about the AML or have questions about reserving the lab.
Come move and learn today!

A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered and donated at our HOSA Blood Drive. We had many donors and Congratulations to Jarred Dunn, who brought in the most donors. The Blood Donation Center presented him with a gift as a small token of appreciation. Way to go, Jarred!

The entire class did an excellent job, however, one poem stood out.
All About Jobs
I am a doctor who takes care of Teddy.
I was so nice and wanted to be ready.
I am a firefighter who fights some fire.
I am a person who fixes wires!
I am a person who drives a car.
I can drive very far.
Firefighters, shoppers, doctors, gee!
I think right now I'm just plain me.

Leprechauns were on the loose in Mrs. Sewell's kindergarten classroom on Tuesday! The class returned from recess to discover gold coins hidden all over the classroom. After filling their pots with gold students used their bounty to practice addition and subtraction.

On Friday before Spring Break, we had a special visitor that talked to us about Mars and the Mars Curiosity Rover. Mr. Smith is an engineer at Southwest Research Institute, and he shared videos, slides with facts and images, and information about the Curiosity launch and landing on Mars. Wow! We learned a lot and had many questions to learn even more. He also presented to some of our high school students from Stacey. Thank you for an awesome presentation!
This week, we started out wearing green for St. Patrick's Day and reading a poem or two about March and a leprechaun. Students and staff showed lots of spirit!
March is Women's History Month. Students in first and second grade learned about Mary Blair, a female artist for Disney. We were excited to learn about her design for a ride at Disneyland. She loved color, and we used chalk to make a rainbow. Our older students read about Eugenie Clark, the "Shark Lady." This scientist gained knowledge about sharks through reading and diving, and we explored shark gills and adaptations, different species of sharks, and we discovered that sharks can be trained. A great week of learning for all!
Finally, our spring Book Fair is just around the corner...We will host Literati in the library April 6 - 10th. Be watching for a flyer and more details.

Dear Gifted and Talented Families,
Spring is always a season of energy and momentum, and our GT classrooms are no exception. As the year continues, students are diving deeper into complex thinking, meaningful discussions, and creative challenges that stretch their ideas in exciting ways.
Academically, learners are engaging in higher-level questioning, problem-solving, and opportunities that encourage them to analyze, evaluate, and create. We are intentionally designing experiences that allow students to think beyond the obvious, make connections across subjects, and defend their ideas with confidence.
Equally important is our continued focus on social-emotional growth. Gifted learners often experience learning intensely, and we are supporting them in building resilience, managing big feelings, and strengthening collaboration skills. Encouraging healthy risk-taking and embracing productive struggle remain important parts of their development.
You can continue supporting your child’s growth at home by:
• Asking thoughtful “why” and “how” questions that spark deeper conversations.
• Celebrating effort and perseverance, not just outcomes.
• Encouraging independent projects connected to their interests.
• Helping them reflect on both successes and setbacks as opportunities to grow.
Gifted education is not just about moving ahead—it’s about growing deeper. Together, we can continue creating experiences that challenge, inspire, and empower our students to reach their full potential.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
With appreciation,
LISD Gifted & Talented Service
Vickie Johnson

Gifted learners often enjoy getting things “right.” Because of this, they may avoid tasks that feel difficult or unfamiliar. This month, focus on helping your child understand that challenge is not a sign of weakness — it’s a sign of growth.
Try saying:
“I love how you stuck with that.”
“What strategy could you try next?”
“What did you learn from that mistake?”
When students learn to embrace challenge, they build resilience, confidence, and deeper thinking skills. Growth happens when learning feels just a little uncomfortable.

Registration is now open for KLRN's Play and Learn program!
Play & Learn offers families (with young children) an opportunity to connect in a family-friendly, educational environment. At each session, participants receive children’s books, take-home activities, and materials to use in their homes.
Families meet once a week to participate in parallel play experiences, and explore PBS KIDS programs, apps and resources. Families also attend workshops that explore integrating science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) at home, and learn about developmental milestones.
This year, we have three locations around town for families to attend:
Tuesdays starting March 24
City of San Antonio SE Service Center
1318 SE Loop 410 ACC Rd.
San Antonio, TX 78220
Thursdays starting March 26
Maverick Library, 8700 Mystic Park
Wednesdays starting April 15
Region 20, 1314 Hines
San Antonio, TX 78208

KLRN is especially excited to continue supporting our military families by offering hybrid Play and Learn sessions (in-person and virtual) that fit the unique needs of those who serve and their loved ones.
|
Parents if your child has autism, consider attending the 2 upcoming parent virtual sessions. The topics are related to technology use in the home - the first session will be strategies for parents to manage children's screen time and the second session will be how to use technology at home to promote executive functioning, communication, and social skills. (More details are on the flyer.)
Meet our Lackland ISD School Psychologists, Gentry Ghandour, Nancy Garcia, and Marisol Murphree!
