Lackland Independent School District connects families, schools, and the military community to help every student.

Building Strong Partnerships
Lackland ISD values teamwork between home and school. Parents, families, and community members work together to support student safety, learning, and emotional health. The district holds regular Town Hall meetings so families can share ideas and solve problems with school leaders.

Ways Families Can Get Involved
Families have many ways to take part in school life:
  • Volunteering: Parents can help in classrooms and support campus events by contacting the school office.
  • Joining Committees: Families can serve on district and campus planning committees to share their voices on important decisions.
  • Parent Groups: Joining the Parent-Teacher-Student Organization (PTSO) helps build a fun and welcoming school community.
  • Staying Informed: Parents track daily assignments and grades using online tools like the Ascender Parent Portal and the Canvas learning management system.

Supporting Military Families
Because Lackland ISD serves a unique military community on Joint Base San Antonio, the district partners closely with the Joint Base San Antonio School Liaison Office. This connection provides extra support, counseling resources, and smooth transitions for families moving in and out of the district.
Lackland ISD strongly desires parent engagement. You have an opportunity to share your voice and help us actualize our vision to ignite a passion for life-long learning and empower excellence. As you engage as a parent, we also invite your participation in campus and district-level committees. Below are the descriptions for these committees for your consideration. If you have additional questions, each committee’s point of contact is listed with the committee description.
Please read each description and share your interest in supporting the committee or learning more about it.

ParentSquare

Lackland ISD continues to strive toward improving communication.

ParentSquare is a communication platform. Through the platform, you’ll be able to:

*Receive all district, school, and classroom communication via email, text, or app
*View the school and classroom calendar and RSVP for events
*Easily sign up to volunteer and/or bring items
*Securely receive important documents like report cards and other student documents

For the best ParentSquare experience, we recommend that you download and install the app. The name is ParentSquare, and it can easily be found in your device’s app store. If you don’t have a device, no need to worry: the platform is capable of both text and email, and you can log on via the web as well. ParentSquare receives its contact information from the Ascender Parent Portal. Please take a moment to make sure that you have the latest contact information on file there.
Parent Square Notifications

Under General Announcements, you can select how often you want to receive notifications for posts. Select Off, Instant or Digest notifications.

Off:no notifications about posts will be sent to you. Emergency Alerts and Notices will still be sent. School Alerts will still be sent if turned on.
Instant:you'll receive an email and/or text and/or an app notification every time a notice or message is sent.
Digest:you'll receive an email and/or text and/or an app notification once a day in the evening with all posts from that day.

The default setting is typically Digest, so that you receive all notices and post messages in one convenient notification once a day. All emergency notifications still come through instantly, and a school can override settings as needed for an urgent message.

Stacey Jr/Sr High School AFJROTC (Unit TX-20262)

The wait is over! Stacey Jr/Sr High School AFJROTC (Unit TX-20262) is officially here and actively running. Grounded in our core mission of leadership, citizenship, and service, our new cadet corps is taking its first big steps toward building strong character and serving our school community. This week, cadets have been busy getting fitted for their official Air Force JROTC uniforms, taking pride in every detail as they prepare to represent our school.

Our week follows a fast-paced battle rhythm designed to grow well-rounded leaders. We launch Mondays with 🫡 Leadership, focusing on character development and management skills, followed by 🚀 Space Concepts on Tuesdays to explore aerospace science and modern technology. Wednesdays are 👔 Uniform Days—once fittings are complete, you’ll see our cadets wearing their uniforms with pride around campus every week! Thursdays are dedicated to teamwork and precision during 🎖️ Drill & Ceremonies, and we wrap up the week on Fridays with 🏋️ Physical Fitness to build endurance and healthy daily habits.
Keep an eye out for Stacey Jr/Sr High School AFJROTC. Cadets are ready to lead, serve, and make their mark!

Stacey HS varsity volleyball!

The Stacey HS varsity volleyball team competed in the Great Hearts volleyball tournament last weekend and after going 3-1 in the tournament, the team walked away with a 2nd place finish! It wasn’t the ending they wanted but it shows the growth this team has made from last year! Seniors Leah Jones and Jada Creecy were chosen as all-tournament players! Congratulations Lady Eagles and keep up the great work!

Meet Lt. Col Jones!

Jones

One of the instructors in the new Stacey JROTC program is Lt Col Paul Jones. Please welcome him to Lackland ISD!

One of the instructors in the new Stacey JROTC program is Lt Col Paul Jones. Please welcome him to Lackland ISD!

1. Where did you grow up?
I was born in Syracuse, NY, and my family later moved to Salt Lake City, UT.
2. Where did you attend college/University?
I earned a bachelor's in Psychology from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT, and an MBA from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX.
3. Tell us about your military experience.
I started my Air Force career as a Behavioral Scientist and later cross-trained into the Medical Service Corps where I served as a healthcare administrator. I retired after 22 years in the Air Force.
4. Why did you choose to be a JROTC instructor?
Three of my six kids did JROTC, and I saw how it helped them. I am excited to be a part of this program as an instructor where cadets at Stacey Jr/Sr High School can learn more about leadership and the military.
5. Is this your first time teaching or working with kids?
This is my first time teaching high school, but not my first time working with kids. Previously I have been a scoutmaster several time and worked with many church youth groups.
6. Did you take JROTC in high school? What was your experience like?
My high school did not have JROTC, so I never had the opportunity. However, I have had some involvement from a parent perspective while my kids were in the program.
7. What is your favorite way to spend your free time?
I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family.
8. Tell us a little about your family.
I come from a large military family and am happy to see this tradition pass along to the next generation as some of my children take the opportunity to serve.  I have a daughter who served four years in the U.S. Army, a son going through the training pipeline to be a U.S. Army chaplain, a son at the United States Air Force Academy, and a daughter in the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets who successfully completed Air Force Field Training this summer.
Thank you Lt Col Jones!

Random Acts of Kindness

We are proud to recognize these Kinder students for receiving a Random Acts of Kindness Award this week!
They were caught being kind and setting a positive example for others. As part of this quick recognition, they received a certificate and celebrated in front of their classmates. We hope these small moments of kindness continue to spread throughout our school!

Library Scoop

Wrapping up our second full week of school with a visit from the counselors and book check outs in the library! Our Kindergarteners learned about the barcodes on the books and helped to scan their books. We are proud to say we have over 900 new library books that we are adding to our collection. This means our Eagles will have the opportunity to read some great new titles. Happy reading!
Our newest addition in the library is Mrs. Romero who serves our students each day as our Library Assistant. She welcomes students, helps to label and add new books to our system, and assists with daily check outs. Please say, "Hello!" if you pass her by at school.
